Georgia holds an annual convention, usually on the third weekend in October
There is no registration fee to attend as the A.A. groups in Georgia contribute to cover the majority of the costs for the convention, hence the convention's name, The Prepaid Convention
Georgia is the only state (and service area) that holds a prepaid convention - many other states (and service areas) hold conventions, however, none have a $0.00 registration fee
The Prepaid Convention is held in various places throughout the the State of Georgia - Individual service districts bid to host the event two years in advance during the Area Assembly meeting in January, and the bid is awarded during the Area Assembly meeting in May - This gives the awarded district time to elect their own convention committee, to observe convention operation, and to make definite commitments to their convention site as necessary - A district desiring to host the convention should have their D.C.M. present their request before the Area Assembly - The Prepaid Convention will not be awarded to an individual, a group, or a city
