Administration
How We Manage the Website
The Area 16 Website Committee will manage and oversee the administration of the Area 16 website, www.aageorgia.org . The Website Committee will consist of eight Area 16 A.A. members;
- Chair or co-chair of the Area 16 PI/CPC Committee
- Chair or co-chair of the Area 16 Communications Committee
- Web Administrator
- Co-Web Administrator
- DCM
- GSR
- GSSA Office Manager
- Area Secretary
The Website Committee will elect the Chairs and Alternate Chairs to serve two year terms, unless their service position terminates earlier. The Chairperson of the Website Committee, with assistance from the Delegate, will appoint persons to fill the Webmaster, Co-webmaster, DCM and GSR positions as needed. The Website Committee will meet regularly at each Georgia State Service Assembly and from time to time between Service Assemblies as necessary to complete its duties.
The webmasters email addresses will not closely resemble the names of the webmasters, so anonymous email addresses will be set up. There will always be two persons with access to the webmaster’s mailbox on the website. No one person will ever have sole access to return emails or inquiries.
There will never be any one person in physical control of the website. Two persons well versed in A.A. Traditions, website design, and who are internet savvy, will be appointed by the Chairperson of the Website Committee, with assistance from the Delegate.
No one individual will hold the site's accounts and domain. The site and domain name are owned by Georgia State Service Assembly. Website administrators are listed with the GSSA Office as the webmaster and co-webmaster. Passwords are easily changed through the hosting account. The webmaster, co-webmaster and GSSA Office Manager will have the passwords to the website and hosting account until a rotation or problem arises. Billing will be to the GSSA office and mailed to the GSSA mailing address or e-mail address. When service positions rotate, password changes are all that is required to pass the website on. All contact phone numbers, e-mail address, and mailing address will remain with the GSSA office location.
The website, www.aageorgia.org, will post the phone numbers of answering services and hotlines directly maintained by the conscience of individual districts or zones. The website will not post individual names or personal phone numbers as contacts for A.A. groups or districts and zones which are not protected by password.
It is proposed that all groups represented be regular registered groups with GSO and GSSA, and have a group service number. Remember, this site belongs to all groups in Georgia.
It is suggested that each District elect a web representative. This representative would be responsible for keeping the website committee aware of any new groups in the district, or of any schedule changes within that district. The most likely candidate for this position is the District's PI person, but anyone who is familiar with the internet and has a computer at home may do the job.
